It's good to be home after 16hrs travel (including airport layover) but bad
to no longer be in Hawaii! After partially unpacking I HAD to roast a batch
of Koa Coffee Plantation Kona, this year's Kona Cupping Competition winner.
After a grueling 35minutes rest I could wait no longer. Pulled a couple
double shots for Americanos. Ah, it's good to be back with Miss Silvia!
Mighty fine cup even short rested. Tomorrow morning should be even better.
(I've found that my 12min to 440f just before 2nd with 6min to 380f then
6min 380-440f ramp doesn't need a long rest like shorter roasts seemed to).

Mike,
I'm guessing that you produced a light roast - City? I'm sitting here
sipping a great cup thinking about how much better it would be if it were
Koa Coffee.

John,
I have a nice supply of Koa wood from Hawaii. I think that if I roasted it
to City, it would have a very woody taste, and it would be very hard on the
grinder. It is much too expensive to use for roasting over the fire too!
Sorry, I just couldn't resist :>) I sure wish I had some 21/2 inch Koa
stock for making tampers. For all the Kona nuts it would be nice to have a
tamper made out of wood from Hawaii. I will have to ask my wood supplier if
they can get me some. Beside the fact that it is a beautiful wood, it turns
well and is very stable (looks a little like English Walnut).

Relatively speaking that would be correct. I consider my 12min 440f
City/Light Full City - 11min 430f City. (Too lazy to grind some and find
the SW chips at the moment:-) BTW, they roast more like Cinnamon roast for
the Kona Cupping Competition. Very light.

Hectic day weighing and bagging Kona greens then playing plumber. Our hot
water on demand water tank decided to spring a leak while we were away...:-(
