Topic: The tradition... (22 msgs / 372 lines)
1) From: David Westebbe
So now I'm on the owing end of the tradition.
I'll offer a variety of things:
1. I have an extra (used) mug top drip cone. It is made by Filtropa, and
is bigger than the regular tiny Melitta version. I bought it at Coffee
Connection, and have never seen them anywhere else. It will fit a No. 4
filter and will hold enough water to fill a 12 oz. mug without having to
stand there and pour multiple times.
2. I can send some good BBQ rub which was mixed by my buddy Lance, and was
used when our team won the MA State BBQ championship. It is not coffee
related, but it still tastes good.
3. A no. 2 sized Swiss Gold brand gold filter.
Any takers?

Hah! Thanks. I'll tell Lance you said so.
I made a center-cut boneless pork loin roast the other night, which I
slathered in rub before I smoked it using hickory. It was pretty good :)

You're welcome! You can also tell him that the only faults I found
with it was that it didn't reproduce and there was no recipe included.

No wonder I miss out on the good stuff. I got this message today at 1:49:39
PM Eastern Standard Time:
"If no one else has spoken, I'll take the rub.
   Jim Gundlach"
and you might notice below that I received the original offer for the rub at
6:27:22 PM the same day. Just how did you pull that one off Jim? :>)

That sounds fair. I have an idea: You e-mail me the recipe, then you
can kill me next time you see me.

So it's a killer recipe is it?
It's John's fault, he started it!

13) From: Mark A. Chalkley
Yep, it sure is. I'm safe, though - my effort to get the recipe is
now dead, so I don't have to look continuously over my shoulder. My
attempt to extort it out of David was just a shot in the dark, anyway.

I was wondering the same thing. I was the first to reply, son it seems =
it falls on me, but 2 days after Mikes post about the parchment, =
someone, I can't remember who, posted a Tradition offering. I asked =
Mike, I don't remember getting an reply. But since I was the first to =
reply, and the others were addition, I guess I'm next in line.?

No fighting over who's next now, if you say you are, that's fine with =
me. I really did not know who was next, with 4 people responding and =
receiving parchment from Mike?. I do remember someone offering the RUB =
though.

BTW, who holds the tradition gauntlet? Did it spiderweb with MM's

I think I hold it again. I'm waiting for the BBQ rub and have been
thinking of something to offer. One possibility is a incomplete, but
adequate set of coffee ground sizing screens but I need to see what is
left after I get things built this week to see if it would be a useful
set. Don't anyone speak up for them until I let you know.

I just looked through the postings on the tradition, Mike's offer of
several sets of parchment beans to grow coffee trees might have created
a spider web but on November 13 David Westebbe assumed the
responsibility with a choice of three offers. I jumped on the offer of
the BBQ rub and will now assume the duty of offering something else to
keep the tradition alive. I will get the offer out in the next couple
of days.
