The whole assembly can wiggle in the adjustment threads, so I'm fairly
skeptical of that particular mod. The coarser the grind, the more it
wiggles, and the less consistent the particle size.
Try it. Take the hopper off, and adjust the upper burr up and down by
moving the little plastic ear with a pencil or something.
Near the bottom of its adjustment, a tapered piece mates tightly, limiting
wiggle. But when grinding for French press, the whole upper burr assembly
can wiggle and rock. I consider this a major design defect.

I've been using the business card mod on my 166 for several weeks now. It definitely improves the quality of the grind from my pretty worn out 166. I get less variation in grind and less dust. I still wouldn't say it's good for espresso, but for the Bunn, it works quite well.

Chris,
Where, exactly, are these pieces of business cards placed??

On the flat surface of the burr where it sits inside the white carrier. Look up in that area and you'll see it. Just stuff a few small strips in there to take up the slack on each side.
