While I might quibble with the "details" (in particular I'd build an
"intermediate" box that talks to the "junk" computer's serial port (so any old
laptop would work), or use one of the cheap A/D cards (which often come with a
disk full of supporting software)) you're right . . .
Of course my basement is full of 25 years of "junk" computers (and "parts") . .
.. (don't I wish I could get some use out of them ).
