Among other comments, "Marchiori, Alan" noted: <Snip> How much coffee does it make in one go? We happened on a Bodum Santos yesterday at a price we could not ignore (especially since I'd been planning to buy a vac pot anyway), but we drink coffee by the mug, not dinky little cups. The Santos produces three mugs, by our standards. That means we will have to stick with the Chambord 12-tasse (four mugs) for morning and reserve the vac pot for special occasions and testing new brews. Not that we will ever regret having French press coffee to wake up with, but it would have been nice to have a choice. Anyone know of a vacuum pot that produces, say, 1.5 quarts at a time? Thanks. Owen asked: <Snip> The largest I've found is the big Cona, and it makes a quart (maybe a liter) at a time. Unfortunately, it's about $160. -- Rick homeroast mailing listhttp://lists.sweetmarias.com/mailman/listinfo/homeroast

BUT WORTH IT!!!
Found a complete glass vac pot in a thrift shop for $3 that has a capacity of 3 quarts-uses a ceramic filter. They are out there just keep looking. You can buy the Nicro knock off from foodservicedirect for about $50. Have the orig nicro SS -it makes about 1.5 quarts of very good coffee-thrift shop also for $3.
Floyd your thrift store rocks, we don't have any like that in my neck of = the woods. Ron Kyle Anderson SC rnkyle
<Snip> My antique Sunbeam CoffeeMaster will do 1.25+ quarts at a time. You can find them on eBay for prices MUCH cheaper than a modern store-bought vac-pot. So far, the old girl is making excellent coffee, and I'm just using a jerry-rigged cheesecloth filter. homeroast mailing listhttp://lists.sweetmarias.com/mailman/listinfo/homeroast
<Snip> Score! Wat kind is it? Got any pics? homeroast mailing listhttp://lists.sweetmarias.com/mailman/listinfo/homeroast
It is something called a Vaculator-has a ceramic plug like filter sitting in a clear glass tube. Someone said it was for restaurants-or maybe large families. No digicam yet-am waiting for Canon G3/S45's to arrive in supply. Have seen pics of them-nada special. Oh the thrift shop that had this also had a NIB commercial coffee maker, plumbed in and looks like a private label Bunn-looks just exactly like the one group Bunns-$5 for that-and it is still in my basement in the box. Maybe have an office some day. just keep looking
