Topic: Grind test for fairly new Solis Maestro (10 msgs / 154 lines)
1) From: Mark Neuhausen
This is a multi-part message in MIME format.
I am willing to provide ground beans from my grinder if desired. Please =
let me know what grind (my thought is the grind that I use with a 30 lb. =
tamp to get a 20-25 second extraction).

Mark,
The grind that works for you would be a good test. Send about
enough to fill a double filter to:

I would also be interested in seeing what theSolis produces in about
six months.

Jim, if you're set up, I can send an Innova grind batch, as well.

Please do. I should be set up to do a good analysis with good graphs
by early next week. Have to re-glue one of the screens.

Hi Jim,
I could send some grind from a year old Maestro, upper burr replaced a
couple months ago (thanks to you), just to see how lousy it's really doing
if you want.

Jim I can send some from a mazzer Super Jolly with new burrs, and if we
wait a few weeks a Mazzer Major with new burrs, if you want. What are we
grinding and about to what degree? OH, I can send some from a mahlkoenig
kenia with new burrs and a very worn grindmaster commercial grinder, too.
And forgive me for saying, but while we are all buddies here, it is not
cool to post your home address in the clear IMO... not safe. This list's
archives show up on google for anyone last time I checked.

Send the samples on. Aim for your espresso grind and label them. I
only need about a double filter full to test.
I'm not not worried about address it is available for anyone
anywhere and the only guys I know that want to do me in are in prison
for at least another eight years.

Jim -
I sent you two samples from a Solis Maestro which was bought last June, so
it is around 6 months old.
One was ground with it set on the Espresso setting, while the other was
ground with it set on the drip setting.
My theory is that the Maestro is much more consistent at finer settings than
at coarser settings.
We'll see.

I think that may be true with all grinders. My Zass is the same way.
