Topic: Eggnog with... Costa Rican Tarrazu (10 msgs / 201 lines)
1) From:
As I'm sipping my concoction, I thought I'd troll for additional holiday
coffee recipes, simple or complex.
Eggnog & Costa Rican Tarrazu
Ingredients:
 - .25 cup eggnog
 - cup 'O brewed Costa Rican Tarrazu (needs to be strong; my experimental
brew is a little weak for blending)
Directions:
 - mix. ;)
What else would Eggnog taste good in? What else do coffee snobs do for the
holidays?

Don't forget bourbon.
Hmmm. Can you steam eggnog and make eggnog cappuccino?

Its not Egg Nog if it doesn't have nutmeg on top! I'm sure there's a law
about that somewhere.

I've seen scrambled eggs cooked by the wand of an espresso machine. I
don't know what would happen to eggnog, probably depends on the ratio
of eggs to milk etc.

I recently tried egg nog with various additives to see which was best. My
preferences were, in order, Frangelica, Kahlua, and then rum. The First two
were great together, as well.
But all commercial egg nogs are nutmeg deficient, without a doubt. Some are
cinamon deficient as well. If I were to pick a coffee to add to the nog, it
would be an East African to punch through.

The best eggnog recipe I've seen is the simplest:
2 Cups milk
3 eggs
dash of vanilla extract
1/3 cup sugar
Blend well and serve sprinkled with nutmeg.
I have yet to taste any from the store that I would willingly drink.

I think eggnog has raw egg in it
it might like a bit scrambly if you heat it
rum is the best
especially old age cuban rum
and some nutmeg on top

That's really funny, Jeff. I got so hungry for eggnog after the recent
thread that I looked up my late fathers eggnog recipe and it is amazingly
similar:
1 qt Milk
4 egg yolks
1 C sugar
dash of vanilla
I see you have less sugar - 0.667C/qt vs. 1C/qt. I thought Dad's was a
little too sweet until I cut it half with rum. Then it seemed just right.
Funny, so did the rest of the world. :-)

Hello,
I've discovered that a shot of crème de cacao is really nice in eggnog or a=
n
eggnog latte.
1oz crème de cacao
1oz espresso (or so)
4-5oz steamed eggnog
top with nutmeg
enjoy.
