Cole,
Based on a few months of home use, the ALPs is definitely not the choice for
any commercial roasting. Lack of capacity, probably lack of durability &
lack of controlling the roasting profile. Back in '91 a friend with over 10
years of small retail roasting experience & I were considering opening up an
espresso shop up here based on the high seasonal tourist volume & our love
of coffee. The number crunching yielded depressing figures. If your
serious about commercial roasting consider hiring an experienced
business/coffee consultant, have a serious realistic business plan in place
and hope for the best. Couple years ago I checked into the Dietrich &
SanFransican #1 roasters (~3#/hr capacity) for home use. Cost was ~$4000.
For couple thousand more you can step up to I think a 6# roaster.
