Topic: Got an extra Poppery Motor? - stupid human tricks (38 lines)
1) From: tpijag
Just did one of those stupid human things. DUH!
If anyone has moved on from tweaking poppers and has a Poppery I [one]
AC fan motor collecting dust, let me know. I will be able to
re-energized my busted popper and deny the following ever happened
.
Just about finished with converting an Orginal poppery to PID control.
PID, SSR Relay, Power cords, Duplex electrical outlet and a Panel jack
for the thermocouple- all installed in a rectangular cookie tin. One
of the last tasks is simply to run another electrical cord into the
Poppery One. Out comes the drill, gonna be careful. Got a nice rubber
grommet to run the cord through - going to look great. Drilling on
through the base, kind of around the side from the the orginal cord
location. The plastic was a tad tough, took my time and DRILLED right
on through and into the windings of the fan motor!
Gotta hate that .
Extra irritating, as half way through the drilling.......had an
awareness that this might happen....and even "told" myself to go real
slow, just kind of barely push on through to the other side. Placing
anything in front of the fan motor to protect it from the drill bit
never even remotely occured to me - brain freeze.
Luckily, I've a few various other poppers that have been idle.
Roast must go on. This morning, tried out an "new" never used Poppery
II, a newer style WestBend Corn Popper [the black and white one], and
an older Pumper [1250watt w/switch]. All unmodified. All went about
their job a bit different. All turned their green charges into coffee.
Yea!
Guess I had one tweak too many last night.
