The motor that drives the roaster drum shows with the voltage drop of the
heaters and speeds again when they cycle off. If you run the Alp on the same
line as a fluorescent light, the lights will flicker like they are on a
caffeine high when you roast. It's as if the current is pulsing rapidly?
Electrically, I think it's the noisiest contraption I have ever operated.
Jim, as far as hearing the first crack in the Alp, it might be far more
obvious for roasters with younger ears. Sometimes if I get desperate, I have
the better half assist a little to distinguish what's goin' on in there where
I can't see. That really applies to me, probably not your situation at all.
Ya don't happen to have the stereo blasting while you're baking them to the
beat, do you?
