Topic: Removing the Rocky's doser (63 lines)

Some of you may be interested in removing the Rocky's doser. I have a
few minutes so I detailed directions follow:
The doser assembly comes off by removing two screws. The catch is
that you have to get inside the Rocky to remove them. You can remove
all but the shelf that holds the assembly but that is actually more
difficult than removing the whole thing. It is also difficult to
remove the plastic container without breaking it if you don't remove
the whole assembly. So, I recommend removing the whole assembly and if
you want the shelf, remove the other parts after it is removed and
re-install the shelf part.
Step 1. Unplug the Rocky.
Step 2. Empty any beans and leave the cap off the hopper.
Step 3. Set the grind adjustment down to the low end stop.
Step 4. Find the three screw holes in the finger guard in the bottom
of the hopper and use a flat blade screw driver to remove the three
screws.
Step 5. Lift the hopper off.
Step 6. You will see a screw at the center back holding a tab that
holds the top of the sheet metal housing in place. Remove it but don't
try to remove the housing yet.
Step 7. Lay the Rocky on on side and you will see a similar screw
holding the bottom of the housing. Remove it.
Step 8. Pull the housing back, you do not have to completely remove
it. Notice how front ends of the housing fit into the back of the
front plate.
Step 9. With the housing pulled back and held to one side, you should
be able to see a screw that is near the edge and with a screw driver
held at a bit of an angle you can remove it. Once these two screws are
removed, the doser assembly comes off by slightly lifting and pulling
forward.
Step 10. Re-attach the housing.
Step 11. Replace the hopper assembly. If you want you can remove the
finger guard and install the hopper without it. This largely fixes the
Rocky's problem of the beans sometimes not getting to the burrs.
Step 12. Plug the Rocky back in.
Step 13. Try it out.
I wrote the above while I was in Oklahoma City yesterday. I'm back in
La Place, Alabama and will finish
I will try instructions on making the chute later.
