Rick, I roasted the JBM in a 25lb Dietrich drum roaster, and roasted it =
20 sec. into 2nd crack, which I believe would transfer over to just a =
snap or two into 2nd crack with a popper or other small home air =
roaster. Full city + no oil, but after 24 hrs rest it showed a few spots =
of oil. It produced a heavy bodied, buttery smooth mouth feel, and a =
moderate finish, it was a finish which had you wanting to get another =
mouthful right away. I really liked it and plan to order some more after =
the first.

Well, I didn't keep up the inventory I did a few months ago (never got it to
computer) so once again went through my over flow storage. A few surprises.
Some greens not there I thought I had! No CR LaMinita but 6# CR Miel, hmm.
Guess which CR people will get for my World Tour Coffee Club:-) And no more
Panama Songbird in over flow (not sure where 10# went! Still some on cart
though, I think...), but 6# LaBerlina and only 2# Mama Cata (may have to
order more MC while I still can) But, it is in a spreadsheet now. Still have
to inventory my primary storage I pull to roast from- three drawer wheeled
cart in the kitchen. Best guess 50 or so pounds. Will get to it New Year'
Day if not before. Over flow 'only' had 108#, 68# of it nine Konas:-)

I was thinking about ordering some (more that is, 2.33# left:-) It's
primarily the newly arrived Timor Maubesse that has me 'needing' to place an
order. The Aifu just wasn't as good IMO...
FYI, anyone who uses Mickey Mouse, I mean Microsoft, products as in Excel
and would like the spreadsheet to use as a template just let me known. (I'm
using Office 2000 version)

Mike......I'd be interested in your template. This is a first time replying
on here, and not so confident it's going to work they way I expect.

miKe, miKe, you're falling behind! Of course, I got carried away stocking
up on Mokha that I can't even roast in the Alp. But then again, I was
looking at my "Mattari -YMCT" (whatever that means) and it looks big enough
to go in the Alp. I think I'll fill up the drum, shake it, and see if any
fall out. Hey, if they do, I'll just put them back in the bag and roast
what's left. Yeah, that's the ticket, I'll put about 10 oz in the drum,
start up the Alp, shift it immediately to cool, and after five minutes I'll
roast what's left!

Mike,
I'm deeply disappointed in you. I did the math. Your stash is less than 63%
Kona. I don't know where you went to school, but where I went 63% was not a
passing grade.
If you don't get your Kona stash up to at least 85% within the next month I'm
going to have to bring a referendum before the CSA to shift the Kona Krazy title
to John A. At least he has impressive Kona consumption.

Don't tell anyone but it may be even worse than that. I suspect my greens
cart I pull to roast from is only around 50% Kona by weight. Will know just
how bad it is when I inventory it tomorrow or the next. But but but wait,
I'm getting ready to order 10# Merle & Kathy Wood's Kona Fall 02 crop (last
year's winner, 3rd place this year, one of our favorites for 6 or 7 years)
but guess I should make it 20:-) Will that help save the title!

Unfortunately Wood's, and all the other Konas offered by Pele Plantations,
are not available at wholesale prices regardless the quantity. 100# same
price per # as 10#. They sell out selling direct each year so have no need
to broker it. Best they'll do is if you call give 15% discount on 10# or
more of specific Estate. To make matters worse, they raised the 2# greens
price from $33 to $36 for their top Estates. But that won't stop me. Of the
dozen or so Konas I have I still think the Fall01/02 Wood's is the best I
have, down to 4.67# in stash out of 20# I started with. So I'll be ordering
10 or 20# before the current Fall02/03 crop is sold out. (This crop didn't
take 1st place, 'only' 3rd place out of six or seven hundred Kona farms. No,
not that many entered the competition, only 70 or so, for various reasons.)
But another Blue Sky or Kona Mountain adventure could happen if people want
it to...
