Topic: Visualizing beans & ALPs roasting (26 lines)

By removing the dump container you can observe the beans during the roasting
process. Utilizing a high intensity flash light to illuminate the inside
of the drum you can observe the beans change color. An additional benefit
of removing the dump container is a more audible 1st & 2nd crack sound. I
have found no significant difference in roasting times. I normally only
roast 212 gm batch. My machine requires elevation at the dump end by ~1cm to
produce even roasts. Uneven roasts without elevation may be due to "open"
dump end. Full 250gm batches may or may not work with the dump container
removed. For those of you who have a preference for ALPs roast
characteristics, roast 150 gm green wt or less, dislike the ALPs smoke, like
small bean coffees (Yemen,Ethiopian etc.) consider the Z&D roaster. Don't
forget to insert the bean container before you or the machine dump your
roasted beans.
