Topic: Wetting Cory Rod (3 msgs / 26 lines)

Some of the old instruction manuals that come with the Cory Vacpots advise you to wet the glass rod when preparing the pot to brew. Can anyone tell me the purpose/advantage of wetting the cory rod prior to brewing? Thanks

Possibly to cut friction? Similar to wetting a pumps needle prior to =
inserting in foot/basket/soccer balls maybe?
I saw the old instructions here:http://www.oldcoffeeroasters.com/images/VacPots/Cory%20Scans/Coryinfo2.jp=g

I am guessing to promote capillary action to get the water up north.
