Topic: Pumper FAQ (2 msgs / 32 lines)
1) From: Alexandre Enkerli
Hi,
I'm new to this list and to home-roasting in general. I did get
interested a few years back, but I couldn't get a hold of a popper (and
couldn't invest in anything better).
Is there an FAQ on using the Popcorn Pumper? I got a Proctor Silex one
and would be interested in mods, timing charts, etc.
Thanks.

Some mods were discussed in alt.coffee so a Google search will give you
those details. There may also be some info in this list archive.
First, use the popper as is to find out if it works to your liking. Since
you are new, you need to learn roasting also. If the results are good then
leave this popper alone, get another to mod. Different brands roast slower
or faster and you may find several that work without any changes.
The most useful mod is to add a switch to shut off the heater to allow
cooling in the popper. This is a simple matter with Wearever, West Bend, and
some other brands but not with Proctor Silex. This popper needs a
transformer to run the fan, and interlock switches to prevent the heater
running without the fan.
