I suspect the newer manufactured Caffe' Rostos have different thermal fuses
than the older ones. I have two, one two years old the other coming up on a
year. Both have worked and continue to work flawlessly. I never let them
cool between roast batches (other than the roast cooling cycle.) Both have
been used for Christmas gift roasting 12hr non-stop back to back roasting
sessions. Older one Xmas 01, newer one Xmas 02. Neither went into thermal
meltdown. I've even pushed 135v into one emulating a 4min FR french roast. I
do empty the primary chaff collector and invert to brush and blow out the
secondary chaff collector after every batch, religously. This is critical to
airflow. But, twice in two years I forgot to replace the primary chaff
collector. While it greatly reduced airflow and totally changed my roast
parameters, I just pushed it harder (was using variac to heater/fan in
tandem at the time) and completely roast no problem, no meltdown. I'd have
no hesitation jumping a meltdown thermal fuse in a newer unit. Mine act like
they don't even have them!
