Was wondering. What bean that you have roasted, and to what degree of
roast, gives a heavy body, and long hard finish? I have a friend, that
no matter what you give him to try, although good is never big enough in
body or finish. I've tried Mexican Altura, Sulawesi, Tanzania pea berry,
Sumatra, and I have had no luck in hitting a home run. BTW he does like
chicory added to the coffee. Thanks in advance for any help.

Ron, you might try Java roasted just a bit into 2nd crack. If your
friend can't find enough body there, I would be surprised! Any of the
Mokhas are full bodied as well, and need to be roasted a little darker
than some others, in order to get the full effect. I particularly like
the Ismaili for a rich, intense flavor without any bitterness. - (Brew
it with enough coffee, and you can just about stand the spoon up in it!)
Another factor which might be causing a perceived lack of body is not
using enough coffee when you brew it. I use a half cup measure of whole
beans for the Yama pot, and a quarter cup for a double shot of espresso.
(whole beans dumped in the grinder and the whole hopper of ground coffee
which results, used) I know the purist method is by weight, but that is
too much trouble - the little ss 1/4 measuring cup, sits right in the
glass bean jar nice and handy, and gives pretty repeatable results. Try
using Mokha/Java and increasing the amount of coffee.

Ron,
Given that the coffees you have given him are all rather high in
body, I would wonder if you and he share the
same definition of the term "body". Why not let him try a bright
coffee and see if that is what he is longing for but has confused with
body?

Give him a blend of two or three dry processed coffees. Roast them toward
the dark side and brew strong in a French Press. It will have so much body
people will call it Schwarzenegger.
