Topic: Another Excel File (2 msgs / 95 lines)
1) From: Myron Joshua
I've made an excel file that keeps track of my inventory. i think it might
be of help to people.
it includes one sheet that shows the
qty purchased of different beans (listed by country of Origin).
qty roasted
percent remaining
The qty purchased is typed in while the qty roasted and percent remaining is
based on entries of every roast that are made on separate sheets.
Each Country of Origin links to a separate sheet where every roast is listed
including
date of roast
qty of roast
Time to First Crack
Duration
Comments
Lines are added for each new entry and the total qty gets planted in the
appropriate cell on the Main Inventory sheet.
Since I am working on my first purchase of beans, I can't say that it has
been thought through. But i think it is a beginning.
Anyone interested can email me with preserving the subject line of "Another
Excel File". (Maybe someone has done this more elegantly than myself and
wants to offer his/her sample)

Myron,
Sounds like you're starting out right! I now store my finished roasts in
vacuum sealed canning jars. I have numbered the jars so I can refer to my
log and get the right bean. So my log includes jar number, date roasted,
ambient, profile number, time to crack usually remains blank now because the
profiles are about dead on. I keep the log in a notebook hanging inside the
pantry door where the jars are stored. Works for me - but I do believe I'll
start showing the greens bag numbers and date received and stored - I've got
some greens that I've had for quite awhile and should be using them first.
I have another couple of boxes coming from Tom & Maria and with there
arrival I may have enough that I require a business license :O)
