Topic: Variable transformer(s) for sale (16 msgs / 357 lines)
1) From: Mike McGinness
I find myself with 2 bench variable transformers with a 3rd (panel mount) on
the way. (Decided attempting to take apart and panel mount a cased variac
was nuts...)
Before I list them on eBay thought I'd offer them here.
One is the exact same 20A (made in China) model sold by CBC and elsewhere
for $110 plus shipping. I'm offering it for $75 (still have box etc.) plus
shipping which will run around $15.
The other is a 10A Powerstat industrial grade (& made in USA) model 3PN116B.
Continuous overload rated 225% for 40min. I've done over a dozen Rosto
heater controlled roasts with it, doesn't even get the slightest bit warm.
Offering it for $40 (plus shipping) and will throw in a cheap DMM - ended up
with three! (Powerstat case model new around $250) I'll be using the same
one (panel mount version) in the controller I'm building...
If interested contact me off list. Either one available now. The second one
it'll be a couple weeks, after I get the combined controller built. I'll
keep the offer open through next weekend then list on eBay:)

Mike, I'll take the Powerstat off your hands. Price is reasonable. Send me
your address and I'll get a check (or money order, if you prefer) right out
to you.
You'd be shipping to ZIP 30344.
Best wishes --

Mike,
If nobody's spoken already, I'd love to have the Powerstat model.
Thanks,
Mark C.

Yes, I'm replying to myself. Good Grief!!! 4 responses in less than 10
minutes, should have made it an auction!:) I'll contact respondents
momentarily off list. Will have to go by email time stamp I guess.

Sorry all - I just happened to be checking email last night about a
microsecond after Mike sent out his offer. Considering that I had just lost
an Ebay auction a few hours earlier for a very similar variac, I figured the
signs were just too strong to ignore. :)

Oh sure - apologize now that you've taken it already. If you were
really sorry, you'd let somebody else have it. Like me, for instance.
;>)
(Congratulations on having such quick fingers.)

Was it apparent that the apology wasn't really heartfelt? I tried to

Well, I don't know about everybody else, but it was immediately
apparent to me. Of course, that could've just been because I'm a sore
loser... ;>}
BTW, what would _you_ be most upset about losing out on? I'll see if
I can rig up an opportunity for that to happen. At least "virtually".

Well, my shopping is done for a while now. Silvia is PID'd, Rosto soon to
be variac'd... I suppose that if somebody offered a custom made "grounds
chute" for Rocky (to replace the piece of yogurt container I'm currently
using in place of the annoying doser), I'd be upset about losing out on
that....

Ah, but will you be dual variable transformer controlling your Rosto! (At
the minimum I'd suggest splitting off the fan and running it full 120v).
BTW, I'll be offering a fan cased 140v boost/dimmer shortly too... why take
it apart and put it back together in the new combined controller case:)

neighbor just came and got one and I dropped the other one and broke
it. ;>)
