Topic: Mocha Mattari - uneven roast? (3 msgs / 41 lines)
1) From: Jason Molinari
Just roasted some Yemen Mocha Mattari i got from SM today, wow...it roasted very uneven. I roasted it to barely into rolling 2nd, since i'm still learning to differentiate the start of 2nd crack ,and the end of 1st caused by outliers:)
Is this right for a yemen? Also had LOTS of chaff. I'll drink it in a couple days, so i'll find i guess!

It's normal for Yemens to be uneven; however,
arrange your roasts so that they're fairly even
when just before the first (longer time or less
beans)

Yemens are the chaff champions.

They can be very uneven. Taking a little longer to get to 1st c may
help. They will be a bit more uniform & that uniformity seems to separate
the cracks better.

Yep. It can be quite the chaff shower.
