Topic: My best shot ever (3 msgs / 45 lines)
1) From: Mark Neuhausen
I had my first God shot today. This is in keeping with the the coffeekid's
definition that the bar always moves higher, and the perfect shot today does
not make our top 25 in a year. I roasted some of Sweet Maria's Sumatra
Mendehling to just short of the start of second crack in 13 minutes. I let
the beans rest 36 hours. I ground this morning, and pulled a double into my
4 oz. measuring glass after temperature surfing my Starbucks Barista.
Pure crema flowed into the glass, and at the 20 second mark, I saw the first
coffee on the bottom of the measuring glass. I ended up with a tad less
than 2.5 oz. of coffee with a 1/2" of crema (rust color) on top. The first
sip was fantastic. The combination of the taste, the feel, realizing that I
had done all of this (after Tom selected the beans, that is), and the smell,
and I tingled as I chewed the coffee in my mouth. I used to question if
people really tingled when they had their perfect shots, and I did.
What a great way to start off the day! And now I have to cope with
disappointment when I don't hit this level tomorrow.

Mark, I tingled just reading your post.
Why be disappointed tomorrow. This memory should last at least that
long...hopefully by then another God shot (or at least an angel shot) should
be on the way. (I can only be jealous!)

Hmm, i wonder if the universe is in line today! I also had my first God Shot! Pulled on a Tea with malabar gold. I wrote a few words about it on alt.coffee.
