Hey Mark it's your fault, I've gone and *Royally* done it. Was going to give
Debi a link to a Cona Vac to order for my Birthday but broke down and went
the whole nine yards. Been eyeing these puppies for a long long time. Just
placed an order with Patrick in Belgium for the Versailles Gold Plated
Balance Brewer with additional Wheat Cut Crystal brewing chamber. Beat the
best deal I could find States by $140.http://www.ping.be/coffee4you/photogallery.htmhttp://www.ping.be/coffee4you/cut-crystal.htm
Doesn't stock the Gold at their SF CA warehouse but he's putting a shipment
together now for SF. Since it'll take 1-2 months it should just about make
it for my Birthday April 15th!
Now to break the *news* to Debi before it gets here...

Oh wow, how could she be upset with THAT! What a wonderful looking coffee
service. I'm betting coffee even tastes better coming from it. There are
several orders of magnitude in the Cona and the Royal, especially done in
gold service. Our Cona is gathering more and more dust as we become more and
more dependent on the Solis. Our friends just love making their own drinks
(Barista wannabe's) so the Cona doesn't draw the attention it once did. BUT
NOW THE ROYAL - I'd have to add more security to the house :O)
John - thinking there's always going to be a better whatever

4) From: Tony McDonald
It's pretty, but I'll take the pure unblemished taste of my Cona D any day
of the week.

Ah miKe, it is beautiful indeed. I just hope you ordered the cups to go with
it. Really nice and the cups are a *must* to complete the set. No doubt they
would make the coffee just that much better.

Ron, What do you think your chances of getting a Royal for your birthday are
:O)) Especially from Mike!! But just in case - my birthday is August 27th!!
!! !!

7) From: TFisher511
John, Ron,
If you ordered that beautiful gold Royal brewer, I'll bet you would go ahead
and order those cups, wouldn't you? Did you see them in the picture? Made a
gorgeous setting. I know I would probably order the cups too!
TerryF
November. My birthday is in November:-)

Gee Terry I don't know, I was kinda hoping Mike was going to mail me an =
airline ticket for my birthday of April 14 th. so I could go out and =
enjoy some of Mikes smoked BBQ ribs, and of course some of his great =
coffee. :O)
I've never been to Washington, it would be nice.

This is a multi-part message in MIME format.
Oh, there is NO way I would leave the cups out of that setup - they made
it!! They also make my cut crystal glasses for the Cona look kinda weak
:O( But I only have to wait until August to get mine from Mike!

11) From: Mike McGinness
All right guys now cut that out! First of all those aren't even crystal
cups. Second of all they are demitasse cups. Third of all to add the set of
six demitasse cups & saucers, bronze mirrored tray, creamer, sugar pot &
spoon holder would have added $600 more (weak excuse that:-) Fourth of all I
already have 6 *crystal* 3oz demitasse cups & saucers with gold trim &
sterling silver demitasse spoons! (Great for double shots from Miss Silvia
if you recall, way cool to watch the shot into them :-) Now I do have to
find four 8 to 10oz crystal cups & saucers with gold trim to serve 4 people
per balance brew. Fifth (or whatever) who needs the cream & sugar holders
anyway? But the tray would be nice if gold plated, but the description says
bronze mirrored. May have to drop Patrick a line and see if it's gold and
available by itself...

Maybe yes, maybe no. Some people think it's perfectly normal to pay even
over a Grand for an espresso machine. Some people pay hundreds for a single
bottle of wine or single malt Scotch. I don't, not because I wouldn't, but
because I gave up the *right* to drink alcohol over 22 years ago. Ariel
alcohol free wine and Kaliber malt beverage what I settle for today. (I
heard of an alcohol free Scotch, but that is too bizarre for even me to try,
I mean really :-) I got a super deal on the Gold plated Royal Balance Brewer
buying direct from Patrick in Belgium, 'bout the same price as a
Silvia/Rocky combo all told. Half the normal retail and just couldn't pass
up such a great deal. It's a work of brewing art that will last many
lifetimes... Makes more sense than 4 or 5 pounds of Kopi Luwak!

Mike, its a fabulous unit. I don't know many who wouldn't love to have one.
And.. There's a lot of things that make more sense than Kopi Luwak :O) I
hope you have it and we can all make use of it at the Great Northwest BBQ.
I really am looking forward to sucking up a cup or two from the Royal.
John - Still satisfied with my cona - but my eyes have a distinct green tint

I'm with Mike. It's a gorgeous piece of craft
work, and, in the design, a piece of coffee
history. If people buy $1000 espresso machines for
their appeal, why not $500 vacuum machines?

My post was not to be taken seriously. It was more of a parody of the
infamous f word post a week or so ago.
As far as the coffee set is concerned, it is definitely a beautiful work of
art, and a definite conversation
piece. Happy Birthday!
(and yes, it makes much more sense that buying Kopi Louak.)

It all makes perfect sense to me miKe, I just like to tease and have fun. You
will have the responsibility of taking pictures when the Royal arrives so we
all can share in the delight. And when you get it broken in and the coffee is
wonderful, maybe you can fax me a cup since it is a rather long drive and I
doubt you will be mailing my airline ticket.

Ron, I know how rough life is here on the eastern side of the USA. I had to
settle for Mavis Banks from a one cup plastic brewer this morning and just
old beer butt chicken later this afternoon for dinner. Somehow, though, we
continue to get by:-(
If miKe sends me a ticket (well actually two, I will have to bring Carol), I
am kind of looking forward to the Hawaiian turkey I've heard so much about.
But Carol neither does coffee nor turkey so maybe one ticket will suffice
after all.

Is Debi really going to need an explanation to this? From what we know of
you here (mind you limited and the face you present) this purchase seems
completely in line with your norm. I would expect her to expect the same
from you. Am I was off?
BTW, as far as breaking it too her, have it shipped some place else, set it
up and "surprise" her one morning (or night) with coffee from it.

Not really. The real issue will be *where to put it*! Thinking centerpiece
of the dining room table. But then the issue becomes where to put the
current crystal bowl with near life size crystal pineapple in it that is
currently there!

If you really think this would be cute-how about posting your snail mail
address and everyone will find a tourist postcard from his/her town, or a
coffee related postcard and mail it to Debi. (Do you have anyone in the
family with a stamp collection;-)

PS For those who sort according to threads, Sorry that my original post
suggesting sending postcards to Debi got out of jive with the thread due to
the automatice addition of Re: in Hebrew which must have come out as
gibberish on your computers.
