He's a former resident of my town here in Texas. Charlie probably knows the country here far better than we do yet. He worked in Mexico on a coffee plantation and probably has forgotten more about coffee than most of us will ever know (and in my case that's not a bunch) John - getting ready to roast some new coffees.
Alchemist John doesn't remember when I signed off with "brick oven roasting in BC." I'm shepherding a big load of Pluma up from Oaxaca right now and should be roasting some by next weekend. I worked on a lot of fincas in that region in the 70's and had my own sharecroped 5 acres in the Oaxaca valley back then. Ended up here in BC 20 years ago and only started going down to pick out the best beans for roasting here 4 years ago. A home made 5lb roaster makes it possible---think about that... No, I don't recall that. Like MM said, it sounds like that is where your heart is. I never thought you were not there. How often do you make the trip? It would be good to see you in June if you can make it.
