Topic: Poppery "died"? (2 msgs / 35 lines)
1) From: Spencer W. Thomas
Well, in the middle of a roasting session (but luckily between batches)
my Poppery (I) died. That is, the fan doesn't run any more. I verified
that voltage is making it to the fan terminals, but it seems to not be
making it to the brushes. There is something that looks suspiciously
like a diode inline with the wire going to one of the brushes. Can
anyone verify this? Any idea what specs I'd use to replace said diode?
Luckily, I had another Poppery in the basement, so I was able to roast
my batch of Monkey Blend and was not without espresso this morning. The
shot was 100% crema! Nothing like freshly roasted coffee!

It is not a diode but a thermal fuse. Check for continuity between both
sides. Easy to replace if it is blown (i.e. has no current through
it). When I was diagnosing a WB, I saw them at Radio shack. Do not know
the exact specs.
