Topic: A coffee poll of sorts (4 msgs / 74 lines)
1) From: Mark Neuhausen
I am a believer that people's tastes certainly vary as is evident by the
wide range of tastes and preferences in our coffees. I also believe that it
is likely that we discern similar and different tastes the same. My
speculation is that people in a "group" who like one coffee a lot will also
have similar tastes in other good and not so good coffees.
So here is the unscientific poll. Blue de Brasil and Tanzanian Peaberry are
my current two favorite cupped coffees, having nudged aside the Guatemalan
Huehuetenango Finca Huixoc. I did not really like the two Costa Rican
coffees I had in the past. I do like funky and pungent coffees such as
Indian Monsooned Malabar and Aged Sumatra Mendehling, but those are so much
different. I just ordered another batch of coffee and included a pound of
Panama Boquete-Finca La Berlina. So my poll question is, "Will Mark like
his Panama Boquete or not based on his other coffee preferences?"
I will collate responses if there are more than one and publish.

No, you will hate it. Upon receiving your shipment don't even put yourself
through the anguish of roasting, resting, grinding and brewing it.
Immediately ship the greens to me for proper disposal. :-)
On the other hand I suspect you just may like it. It doesn't have quite the
acidity of most CR's and a much deeper body. Not the low tones of
Indonesians or especially Aged or funky Moonsooned of course. Tends to
resonate as a tenor rather than a baritone. And smooooth. It's a coffee you
can serve virtually anyone and they will love it.

Mark will indeed like the Panama Boquete. Alchemist John was just missing
having some. Similar to the Tanzanian Peaberry, but "rounder and
smoother". Nice full cup, without being excessive.
