From: "Lee XOC" <Snip> I have hard finger nails and sometimes just pull up with them. Most times I use an old fashion bottle opener. Keep it in the cupboard with other coffee *stuff*. I haven't had a problem bending the domes using it. Some of the domes have a distinct inner circle of markings all the way around (and around and around) on top from where the bottle opener pushes! Thanks everyone for the info on the Tilia. I think I may have to pick one up, and relegate my manual vac-sealer to an emergency-preparedness kit along with my Zassenhaus. ;) - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Lee / San Diego --------------------------------- homeroast mailing listhttp://lists.sweetmarias.com/mailman/listinfo/homeroast |
Generally speaking, CostCo has the best price on Tilia. Sometimes you can find one on eBay at a better price, but at CostCo you can just walk in and buy one. Beware of WalMart, they carry a model that doesn't have a port for the vacuum hose which is necessary to seal mason jars. -- Rick |
I got mine (the "Vac 500" model) from overstock.com. Saved maybe 1/3 off the list price. They're out of them now, have only the 300, which doesn't have the vacuum hose. =Spencer Rick Farris wrote: <Snip> homeroast mailing listhttp://lists.sweetmarias.com/mailman/listinfo/homeroast |
The Costco package is a really good deal. It comes with the 10?? model, two rolls of bags, 3 cannisters, a bottle sealer, & some other accessories (not the mason jar sealer though) for $160. homeroast mailing listhttp://lists.sweetmarias.com/mailman/listinfo/homeroast |
