Got some of the French Chicory Tom's offering last month and decided to
roast some coffee to brew it with for the weekend. Roasted a mix of last of
Timor Maubesse 01 & Timor Aifu 02, roasted to my Vienna BBMM2 profile 470°
(I up the ramp from 440° to 470° - 15° per min), very light oil end of
roast, all oil gone in minutes of cooling. Was going to wait 'till atleast
this evening but...
30minutes later brewed a 12oz Bodum French Press (but of course!) using 18gr
Timor & 6gr Chicory (3:1 rather than Tom's suggested 2:1, didn't want the
Chicory to be dominant). Chicory straight into Press, Timor ground Rocky 31,
just off boil filtered water, 3min infusion. Not bad, not bad at all. Far
better than the Cafe' DuMonde stuff.
If you're a fan of earthy Indonesians or Monsooned I'd suggest you give it a
try! I know Debi will love it.
