It amazes me how different *different* profiled roasts of the same bean
taste. I've been homeroasting for over two years, cooking for over 40 and
fairly serious about home gourmet chef hobby for over a decade. Yet it's
almost baffling how the same bean roasted to the same final temp in the same
length of time can taste so different by varying the rate of temp rise at
different stages. And it's not my imagination, Debi tastes the differences
too. Makes a low & slow 16hr smoked pulled pork butt cook simple by
comparison!
You roasters new to the journey don't be alarmed! It's really very easy to
get outstanding roasts far surpassing the vast majority you can buy
pre-roasted except maybe from the most caring dedicated micro-roaster
operations.
Just musing while contemplating what (AND HOW) to roast this morning:-)

Not alarming at all, it just means that roasting your own coffee will remain
fascinating for years to come!
