Here is an initial attempt to list and define some of the most used coffee
and roasting acronyms. Thanks to Dave Lowe and Paul Jolly for contributing
to the list.
Suggestions will be promptly filed and never looked at again...http://www.homeroaster.com/acronyms.htmlEd Needham

Fourth one down. I show Ed posted at 8:33pm, you queried at 8:36pm, I say
Ed's email at 8:53pm and it was there. Either you missed or Ed made a fast
major ommission recovery!
John, sorry to have to tell you we just finished that ASPNWKS dinner, and it
was beyond good. Maybe the best I've done. But then Debi said I said that
last time... so at the least the best Salmon I've done this week. (alder
smoked Pacifice Northwest King Salmon, has that for an acronym!:-)

Or maybe I've just had too much coffee. Finishing some freshly roasted
Mama Cata right now - I'm so glad I saved some.
And I could swear it wasn't there before, but, I've been drinking coffee
tonight.

I still had the page up from the first email. CSA wasn't there until I hit
refresh. So it got slipped in later.
Also, isn't it SCAA instead of SCCA? SCCA is Sports Car Club of America :)

Ed made a fast omission recovery. I was hoping no one would see that.

Right -and WB Mark 1 or MK1 -that confused even me a while back.
Also, I have been using WP for Water Process in terms of Decaf, and
Wet Process. I am just trying to make things as difficult for
everyone as I possibly can! DP is controversial too. Remember
Displaced Persons? Maybe we can get DP coffee from DP's.
What we need is someone to write the ULIMATE acronym-filled email to
the Homeroast list.

But as soon as we compile the ultimate list someone will create a new =
acronym. It is a never ending process!

You're right; I don't know those. But these others, I know some...
HBD = Home Brew Digest
RIMS = Recirculating Infusion Mash System (beer brewing method)
IBU = International Bittering Units (measurement of hop bitterness in beer)
OG = Original Gravity (specific gravity of starting wort)
FG = Final Gravity (specific gravity of final beer)
IPA = India Pale Ale (no intro needed)
CFC and HLT? Cleaning agents, I think, but it's been a long time and I never
used either one.
