Topic: toaster roasted, part 3 (60 lines)

The issue is probably not spot temperature, I suspect any heater that gets
hot enough to incandesce (glow) will be hot enough, the question is how much
heat can it deliver and for how long. An appropriate metric to look at would
be power consumption in watts.
I suspect the configuration will also make a difference. A fluid bed (hot
air) roaster is wasting a lot of heat in it's exhaust, while a drum roaster
should be more efficient.
I would also be concerned about robustness... a space heater should be
designed for near continuous operation, a toaster not much more than a
minute at a pop... a toaster oven will be somewhere in between.
OK, how many of you folks have a fire extinguisher handy? You guys are
scaring me....be careful and don't burn your house down... space heaters
already burn down enough houses when used as heaters....Note to self, I
probably need to get my old CO2 extinguisher checked, in case I catch this
bug.
