Hi guys,
I'm leaving the state (Florida) on vacation to the 'north'
country in the AM. Return is planned for 12/15.
Here's to hoping my ISP's mail allotment isn't clogged
by my return.

Am leaving for Las Vegas on 9/11. I know it's 9/11 but you can't imagine =
how cheap the fares were on that day. Anyway I will be off list till the =
21st. If I make a win will come home to a new i-roast. Told my daughter =
(the one I got into this thing) in case of a real good win she gets an =
i-roast too.

It's my wife's birthday present to me. We have a romantic weekend =
together at The Billagio until Sunday .She leaves Sunday night and I =
move over to the Orleans meet a poker buddy of mine and go on a poker =

Bellagio is gorgeous. Be sure to catch the dancing waters. There are
a couple of amazing restaurants in there--we ate at Picasso, which
has actual Picassos and great bistro food. Good caviar in Petrossian,
too. I think Paris is across the street--funny thing, its bistro Mon
Ami Gabi is a tough table to get, while here in Chicago the original
M.A.G. is easy--sometimes we can even walk in!
Never been to the Orleans, though.
Catch a show or two if you can--Spamalot is a hoot.

I'm going no mail in the AM for a bit too. We're driving to Kelowna for
a few days (that's wine country BC style) and then on to Hornby Island
for a week or so. We'll drive home the southern route, stopping in
Spokane for a couple of days before heading home Sunday, October 7.
Pictures of where we will be on Hornby Island (eat your hearts out ;))

Ah, we ate at B&B in the Venetian this time---they use freshly
roasted ground-per-shot Illy beans for their very good espresso,
which I chose not to sully with milk (had three double ristretti).
For brunch, we did the buffet at our hotel, the RItz Carlton in Lake
Las Vegas--they used pods, alas. I left the maid some of my
homeroast with her tip--I refused to drink the swill that the stupid
one-cup in-room drip brewers produced, opting instead to use my Zass,
AP and press pot. I guess more and more hotels are going to these to
save cleanup time for the maids--no filter holders or carafes to
watch, since even the filter holders are disposable.

OTOH, there's Italian and then there's quasi-Italian. Lake Las Vegas
is actually modeled on a Tuscan village ion the shores of Lake Como
(we're already suspending geographical disbelief, and no, it wasn't
planned by Miss Teen South Carolina). It would be authentically
Tuscan, if Tuscan-village streets weren't only half as wide, or had
souvenir and golf shops, 105-degree temps, electronic mist spritzers,
realty offices on every corner, and Starbucks. (no hookers, though--
the brothels were in Henderson proper--or, rather, improper). At
least five Italian trattorias within a four-block radius, and all
were excellent. Plenty of Italian wines and cheeses (especially the
fontina val d'Aosta and Gorgonzola dolce). The prosecco flowed like
champagne (which it closely resembles). Even the casino was in a
separate building with buffer zones to filter out the smoke (the RItz
itself is entirely smoke-free). Mostly, I ate, drank wine and coffee,
worked out, got spa treatments, drank lots of fruit-and-herb-infused
water, and dealt with the consequences of drinking lots of water.
Alas, lost no weight (but gained none either--and lost no money,
since I don't gamble and there were no clothes in my size at the
shops). Bob came out ahead in the casinos, got CME credit for the
classes he took, and got reimbursed for everything but my plane
ticket, show, and half of the meals.

Will be off list for 2 weeks going to Oregon for vacation. My next
house will have a coffee room. The center piece will be an old gas
fired espresso machine..shiny brass, with an eagle on top, mounted on a
marble slab. Doesn't matter if it works or not. If it doesn't work
will just put flowers in it. Need enough space to display my Zass
collection. A wet bar for coffee preparation. Comfortable leather
chairs tables and book shelves. A poker table would be nice too. My
luck though my next house will be assisted living. Well off to Oregon.

Have a nice and successful trip. I never responded to your inquiry about the cory vac pot. I like it. There is much more I could say on the issue...but its a little hard to type on the phone. I find it to be like a more thoroughly strained fp. Still fiddling with the grind...fun to use and watch.
Be well.
