Lynne, No, you didn't get a lemon, Rosto's are junk, and Steve isn't helpful at all. I sent my Rosto back a few months ago (after only two months of use), and when it was returned, I plugged it in and it still didn't work. Like I did, have Steve send UPS to pick it up, at his expense, then, IF it works when you get it back, leave it on your shelf as a third string back-up. In the meantime, find a real roaster, and another for back-up. This is just my (& many others) opinion. Happy Future Roasting, Mike F.
SOME Rostos are junk. It sounds like the newer production ones have problems. I have two of the earlier produced Rostos, and have had no problems at all. Mike Mc Koffee has 2 that work great, too. Mine will roast anywhere from City to charcoal. When I broke one of the lids, Steve sent a new one free of charge, even though the unit was way past its warranty. Randy Michael J. Foley wrote: <Snip>
I have to concur with Randy here. I bought a used Rosto from a list member a while back, and UPS managed to destroy the lid in transit. Steve sent me a replacement lid at no charge, even though this was a used machine. I've run the machine pretty hard over the past year or so (splitting heater/fan control, overdriving the fan, etc) and it's handled it all with no hint of a problem. I'd have to say I'm a satisfied customer. As always, YMMV. -mike Randy wrote: <Snip>
