Hi Mandy Willison are you still a part of the list? I have a friend who
wants some Aussie beans, and I seem to recall you have a friend with a
plantation- is that correct? How is the coffee?
Thanks, Scott

Ten days ago I flew to Australia, my first trip, to go to a conference in Sydney. While there I stopped by a monthly farmer's market and found several stands selling coffee. One of them was advertising Australian grown coffee. I had no clue that they grew coffee here. He didn't have any green beans so I got his e-mail address. I plan on ordering some and have them shipped to the states.
Does anyone on the list have any experience with Australian coffee? His plantation is in an area called Black Mountain.

http://www.sweetmarias.com/coffee.islands.australia.htmlas far as i know, production is limited to queensland, although one of the
maps on Tom's page shows some farms in north New South Wales... like I

Mountain Top is in the Northern part of New South Wales, a couple hours
south of Queensland. It's near Nimbin, known for free souls & the
cultivation of other ... herbs.
I bought some of the Mountain Top beans from Tom, excellent beans. I sent
some of the roasted beans to friends in Australia who had only instant to
offer when we visited. And they were only 1 hour from the Mountain Top
plantation!
I would have loved to stop in, but wasn't able to swing it.
We did stop for a tour of a "plantation" in Mareeba. A tourist trap --
didn't see the plantation at all. As described the withhold water from the
plants, they grow coffees on a dry plateau, then flood the fields with
water. This causes the plants to produce all at once & they can use
automated equipment.
