Topic: more traditions (31 lines)
1) From: Michael Guterman
I just got a Swissgold #2 filter cone from Tom. I have used it to make
one cup of coffee, and I have decided that cleaning it is too much
trouble, and I will continue to use paper filters in my Melitta pour
through. So, I am offering it up as a tradition. I am going to see my
mommy for a while, so I will be away until next Tuesday. I am going to
do this as an in the hat type choice. Anyone interested should send me
email at m.guterman before next Tuesday at midnight eastern
time. Just to let you know, my objection is that I am too lazy to
scrape the grinds out, and the only other way I can see to clean it is
to wash it out in the sink, which works, but I know from experience that
my drain system is not partial to coffee grounds.
On another note, I have found that for me and my system a light tamp has
produced the best espresso I have made. I just swooned over the Moka
Kadir shots and Americanos I made today. Much better than when I tried
a thirty pound tamp. I have been writing to Les, and I am going to get
a convex Thor when I come back. I am excited. The Reg works fine, but
I love beautiful things.
Everybody have a great weekend. I am gone till next week.
Michael
