Thank you all for the advice and info regarding
budget saving equipment.  I think I'm going to start by saving to buy a
turkish zass from Tom.  My area is normally not out of power but I get this
weird feeling this winter's going to be interesting.  I've actually WANTED
a turkish for ages but never found a good one until Tom started offering...now I
just don't have the extra $$.  With my gas grill and fireplace, I have a
way to at least roast and make some coffee as long as I can grind.

I'll keep my eyes open for the Krups
machines.  I don't drink a lot of espresso but prefer to make drip in order
to more easily share with a couple of my friends that don't care much for
espresso.

Thanks again!

I want to thank those of you who advised me that it was most likely the chaff that resulted in the fire in my Behmour. After a thorough cleaning I roasted last night and had a fine outcome. I was concerned that my roaster had a problem, but the problem was the chaff; and that was something I could manage. I have cleaned my roaster after each use, but evidentially I needed to go the extra mile and so I purchased the green stuff. I have been roasting for over a year now and have learned so much on this site. Thanks again.

That's great news, Adrienne.
I just went through a cleaning this week with simple green and a Mr. Clean
Magic Eraser followed by a dry burn. I also took the right panel off and
vacuumed out what little lint had accumulated on the cooling fan.
I wasn't due for this "Super Cleaning Cycle" as Ira puts it in his
BehmorThing program, but I'm roasting five batches this week for a tasting
and already had the machine pulled for cleaning so I figured why not.
This "Super Cleaning Cycle" is detailed starting on Page 2 here:http://tinyurl.com/yk3wlbg.*-Chris*">http://behmor.com/pdf/Manual%20Update%203-Interior%20Maintenance%20and%20DC%20Fan.pdforhttp://tinyurl.com/yk3wlbg.*-Chris*
