I forget if it was SNL or one of the knock-off shows back in the 80's (yes,
I'm old) ...
Anyway, they had this funny skit of a news story about de-caffeination. The
newsperson was interviewing the people who decaffeinate coffee. They had
coffee in big barrels, and they sucked out only the caffeine through big
straws (presumably special filtering straws ... not really explained).
I can't do it justice here, but as you can imagine, these workers were a bit
hyped up and agitated. I thought it was funny--then again, I was only a
teenager. Anyone remember this bit and what show it was on (or has caffeine
effected our memories too???)

I don't remember..but, I always have wondered what they did with that
caffeine that was removed from my decaf coffee.. I mean, I paid for it
didn't I? Why don't they give it back in a little plastic bag in with with
the beans? Or at least enclose a coupon for a free No-Doze..

Taking a wild guess the caffeine that is added to colas and nodoz, etc must
come from somewhere....

It's my understanding that it's a big profit center item, sold to the
people who make colas and such.
