A little belated...
Hi, I've been an underground list member for a couple months and am usually
blown away by all the detail in the posting but have picked up some good
advice in home roasting and coffee bean suggestions-Thanks! I'm pretty low
key about the roasting thing - have had a Freshroast roaster for almost 2
years and so far am content with the results. Happier than the earlier oven
roasting attempts. I'd really like to experiment with other roasters, but
will wait on that for now.
I'm also impressed with the amount of coffee beans some of you order!
Stomach problems have cut back my coffee consumption. I usually order one
of the latest lots of Kenya offered and usually try a pound or 2 of
something else like a FT or organic or like this last order, I'm getting
the Indian Monsoon Malabar with the Kenya Kihenia lot. This lasts us 2
months. Maybe I should have a larger stock. I've tried other coffee bean
varieties but keep coming back to Kenya as the main coffee source.
Any suggestions on a coffee bean similar to the Kenya characteristics?
I also roast it a little longer than recommended, but found I prefer it
that way as does my husband. I had to laugh when I read about the one
roaster hiding the his coffee orders from his wife. My husband was
APPALLED that I'd order coffee for X amount when a perfectly good large tin
was $5 or so at the supermarket. Happily he's getting converted.
