Topic: Newb. Want to separate heater and fan on popper (5 msgs / 72 lines)
1) From: Steve Walter
Hi all. New to this list but been novicely roasting for about a year now. I have a popper (presto poplite) that I would like to separate the heater from the fan and put a toggle switch on the heater. I opened her up and looks similar to the wb II. I have seen a few mods on the net but no real good explanations of how. Any help here?
Steve

This is a multi-part message in MIME format.
I'm a newbie and Wal-Mart carries this model for about 19 bucks. Is this =
a good start for an air popper roaster?

you need side vents, no bottom screen. follow the wb2 writeups; you'll
be fine.

side vents, bottom screen? Are you replying to me or Alfred? I am trying to find some wb2 writeups and haven't found many (two so far), although I haven't gone through all of the archives, I am up to about middle of 2002.

Alfred, I have had good results with this popper. Heats up well, roasts have been even, I use manual agitation in addition to the fan(swirling motion). I get first crack about 4 minutes and 2nd crack within a minute after. I am going to try to experiment with toggling the main heater to slow down the roast some. I am never happy with stock stuff, you should see my computer :-O
