| Hi Denis, I do have the one with the metal gears rather than the plastic. I guess SM sold out of the stainless steel one that I bought just a couple of weeks ago - I didn't notice until after I copied the link. They will probably get them back or something equivalent Anyway, I'm real happy with the stovetop roaster. In last night's roast, I got a very linear temperature rise of about 18 deg F/minute and got a good tasting result. Maybe there's a more expensive roaster (like the Behmor) in my future, but so far I like playing with all the parameters of the stovetop. Sounds like you had fun with the Behmor drum! Got any pictures ;-) Experiments are fun, aren't they? So now you are up and roasting with the Behmor but miss the tinkering/building part?
