| Here's the link to temperature profile of a roast on Sat. (actually only my third attempt at roasting)http://picasaweb.google.com/mcdougal.jim/CoffeeBeanTemperatureDuringRoastingI think the probe is in the beans and I'm probably getting good temperature readings. The gas stove was on medium heat (5 for me). First crack was about 370 - 400 (8 min) and I think I got second crack about 440 (13 min) aiming for a FC+ roast. Seems to me that if : 1. I turn down the gas (1/2 mark?) at 1C, I'll extend the time between 1C and 2C. 2. I add the beans at 300 instead of 400 on the same gas setting I would extend the time to get to 1C. 3. I lower the gas mark (i.e. 4) - I would lower the slope of the temperature profile - which is currently 17.6 deg F / minute. Actually, it appears that between the gas setting and the initial temperature to add the beans, we can have a lot of control! Thoughts or criticisms would be welcome.
