Since many people have helped me out over the past year with vac pot parts, boiler insulation, and fan motors and didn't want anything in return, I'm posting a new tradition thread in honor of them. In 50 words, or even much less, tell me why you want the item a specific item posted. I will award at least one of the items next Monday, maybe more that one. So plead, grovel, be logical, state a great need, etc. The award(s) will be based upon the most meritorious request (IMHO); and I may publish the winning request. The items; Dolenghi Cafe Italia Wearever Popcorn Pumper Lowes SS Trash Can (roaster drum) You have to Sunday noon EST to respond. Ben

Seems appropriate. It's after Labor Day and schools are starting so a homework essay assignment! However, I see no reason for logic to be involved in the dissertation:-) Kona Konnaisseur miKe mcKoffee MCSE (Maniacal Coffee Systems Engineer/Enthusiast;-) URL to Rosto mods, FrankenFormer etc.http://mdmint.home.comcast.net/coffee/Rosto_mod.htm

I just received one of the cup and saucer sets from Ron and I will start a new kind of Tradition offering. I have now completed two roasts of the very same beans, an organic Brazil. Both were exactly 200g loads. The first was with the HotTop plugged into the wall and a voltmeter measured 120vac at all times. The second roast utilized Bob Yellin's suggestion about slowing the ramp between the first and the second cracks by reducing the voltage to 93v after the first crack began. I have tasted both myself and then packed the remaining beans in airtight bags and flushed them with nitrogen and then argon. I will send the recipient of this Tradition Offering both bags but labelled with an 'A' and a 'B'. It is the winner's job to post a tasting description of the two batches of beans and to let us know if he/she tastes any difference between them. Thus it will be a blind tasting. In order for the beans to be fresh, I will select the winner at 11pm PDT Wednesday, May 12. I will send an email to the winner shortly after 11PM. I will send the two packages of beans to the winner via Priority mail on Thursday morning if the winner has sent me their address. Send me your entry directly (please not to the list) and include your mailing address so that I can send the winner the package first thing Thursday morning without a delay. Regards, Jeffrey Pawlan

Doesn't this mean you still owe a "regular" Tradition offer for the cup and saucer or was it not a Tradition offer? Starting a new one is cool, but you have to finish the old one, right? I was incredibly lucky to win a HI Precision roaster and some fancy greens from Terry Stockdale last week. I just picked it up yesterday, and I love my new toy! I'm offering up 5 lbs of greens. Just email me offlist before Tuesday night, June 1, and I will pick a name randomly from all who enter. I'll anounce the winner on Wednsday. Greens to choose from:(first 4 just arrived yesterday, very fresh) Organic Colombian Mesa de los Santos Guatemala Antigua Los Volcanes Organic Uganda Bugisu Komodo Blend Organic Decaf also Oaxacan Pluma (my personal stash from last year) Organic Harar Organic Sumatran Gayoland Organic Bolivian Cenoproc El Salvador Bourbon Five lbs of one, or any combo that adds up to 5 lbs. I'll probably have to file a notice with the FDA to bring it to the US for mailing,(PITA!) but I'll do that. Did I mention how much I like that little Precision roaster? I should have bought one a long time ago for little sample batches. I can see how they could burn out roasting *all* the coffee I drink, though. Long live the HR list Tradition!! Peter Barnes was wonderful enough to get me a GMail account, which I have been loving (basically, GMail is the first web-based mail system with an elegant UI and the productivity of a Unix text-based mail application). In response (and only partially because I am drowning in greens), I offer the following tradition of greens: 1 lb Sulawesi Toraja 1 lb Sumatra Mandheling 1 lb Timor Maubesse 1 lb Brazil Fazenda Ipanema "Dulce" All these are late '03 current crop arrivals. Please email me offlist. I will select names at random on Sunday evening. Arien

Today I cut off the bottom section of a hi temp Plexiglass convection oven. It would be a great spacer for the SC/TO set up. The piece is approximately 13 and 1/4 inches in diameter and 2 and 5/8 inches high. It is about an eighth of an inch thick. Anyone interested email me off list and I will have a drawing for it Sunday evening. PeterZ

Sorry about the delay in commenting on this tradition. Because the other section of the plastic hood that I had cut this from MELTED during my roasting, I hesitate to offer any part of it for a tradition. The plastic, even though it was part of a convection oven, clearly was not intended to function at the temperatures coffee is roasted at. Sure would hate to have anyone ruin a good roast with fuming plastic contaminants. I will offer another tradition instead of this one very soon. Please accept my apologies for withdrawing this item. Hi Everyone, Thanks Ron again for the great motor! We get in the house next Monday, and the roasting will resume! I have received many great gifts, some huge, some tiny, and all very much appreciated. It's time for me to offer something as a Tradition Offering. I am offering eight (8) stainless steel espresso cups. These look really great on the warming tray of an espresso machine. Here's Miss Silvia showing them off, but kind of embarrassed for being caught doing her work in the hotel room. I told her not to worry, you will all understand... Please check these out if you are interested: http://tinyurl.com/8zdfkI would like all entries off list - meaning please don't "reply" to this, instead write to me at homeroast and tell me you'd like to be included. Please pick a number between one (1) and three hundred sixty four (364), and include this number in your email. I will draw a number on Thursday evening - the person closest will win! What number am I thinking of? I promise to tell you when I reveal the winner! Regards all, Brett OK, just for more fun... If you'd like to see my new baby, here's a couple pix as well: http://tinyurl.com/dm34xOn 7/23/05, R.N.Kyl e wrote: <Snip> ast <Snip> ribes) go tohttp://sweetmarias.com/maillistinfo.html#personalsettings<Snip> -- Regards, Brett Mason HomeRoast __]_ _(( )_ Please don't spill the coffee!

Hi Gin, How are you, and where are you? Any legal stuff workin your way yet? I saw the stainless steel cups in a local cheap store (very cheap store) - they are labelled as dipping cups but they do the job very nicely and look good! Turns out I bought too many (figured 12 for me and 12 for tradition - as you can see, the machine only holds 8 plus my tamper... so - what's your address?) House is coming along great. We move in on Monday. I cannot believe our good fortune on this thing... Our interest rate is 3.875 and I am still amazed. Work is going really well too. Family is here, first week of school is going on, and we're commuting from the hotel to the bus stop... Kids are glad to be here, the weather is a perfect 75 today - utterly amazing. So - just for fun - pick a number between 1 and 364 - I won't put you in the tradition, as you already won these 8 cups... Love to you and the girls, Brett, and Deb & boys too! very cool Brett.
